M. Kennedy Co., Inc. is our 8(a) certified construction
subsidiary. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporation,
as we bought out our minority partner in mid-2004. MKC
is a management construction company, which means that
80% of the work we receive is subcontracted out, and
that 20% of the job is actually performed by employees.
We finished up a 5 year SABER contract in Vandenburg
AFB, California. Currently have a SABER contract at
Dyess, AFN, Abilene, TX., and many small and medium
size contracts at Bremerton Naval Shipyard. Additionally,
we have experience doing Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)
jobs, and have several joint venture projects with Chugach
Alaska Corporation. The majority of the employees manage
projects, bid new work, or are qualified safety personnel
for the company. MKC has been in the 8(a) program since
January 1998 and will graduate from the program in 2007.
This has been a very good venture for The 13 Regional
and we formed North Star Industrial Contractors, LLC as
a follow on company to it.
